Friday recap: the week's Odds-on board · ~3 min read

G'day. It's Friday, so here's the recap. This is our first week, so the board below is the opening card from Issue 00. Every score is preliminary: we rated it out of 100 on our published rubric (works as claimed 25, good for the job 25, better than the default 15, time to value 10, price and value 10, trust 10, momentum 5) using public docs. Nothing here has had the hands-on test yet, and paid placement never moves a number. Full method: ai-form-guide.vercel.app/how-we-score

🏇 Today's Odds-on: Claude (Anthropic): 89/100

Good for: turning a long document or a meeting into something you can send. It's strong on documents and drafts and on keeping track of the thread. The current plan page lists Claude Design, Slides and Docs alongside chat. Try it: https://claude.ai

🐎 Roughie: Aider: 75/100

It's open source and easy to miss next to the hosted editors. You bring your own model key and it edits your repo from the terminal. It also commits every change to git with a sensible message, so you can undo anything. Try it: https://aider.chat

❌ Scratchings

  • Midjourney (80) for app-building. It's in good image form, but it doesn't ship the app.
  • Devin (77) for meeting write-ups. It's odds-on for builders, but a coding agent is the wrong tool for a meeting write-up.

🛠 Builders corner

Aider's repo map plus git auto-commits. Run cd your-project && aider --model sonnet. Aider builds a map of your whole codebase, which helps on larger projects. Each edit lands as its own commit, so a bad vibe-coding run is one git reset from gone. Repo: https://github.com/Aider-AI/aider

⏱ Everyday pro tip (no code)

Drop your week's meeting notes, PDFs and docs into one NotebookLM notebook and ask for a slide deck or an Audio Overview. It answers from your sources only, so you get a Friday wrap-up you can forward without hallucinated extras. https://notebooklm.google.com
